HUGOby Cosmic Futures

Your person in space.

The company

Cosmic Futures. One company, three products.

We build for people and companies in the space industry. Signals and Orbiteer collect the data. HUGO puts it to work for each person.

Sees

Signals

Market intelligence: news, tenders, jobs and the companies behind them, every fact with its source.

Knows

Orbiteer

The professional network for people in space.

Acts

HUGO

The AI chief of staff that works across both. Every product signs "by Cosmic Futures". When a customer needs to hire, people on our team run the search.

What we're building

One WhatsApp number. No app.

You text HUGO what you're chasing. It watches the space industry for you, sends the few things that matter and, after your yes, makes the intro, drafts the email or books the meeting.

Inspired by Instinct

The assistant you text instead of an app you open. Invite-only, lives in the chat you already use. We do the same, built for one industry.

Everything points to one link

Orbiteer, Signals, hugo.space, LinkedIn posts and event badges all send people to HUGO on WhatsApp.

A space service, not a chatbot

Meta's rules bar general-purpose AI chat on the WhatsApp Business API. HUGO stays focused on briefs, intros and opportunities. Check the policy before launch.

The problem

Space leaders see too much and act on too little.

Tools that inform

Space research products report on the market. None of them turns it into a meeting, a bid or a hire.

Tools that act

Sales Navigator, Clay and Affinity automate outreach but know nothing about ESA calls, primes or orbital niches.

Expensive misses

One IAC pass is EUR 1,600-1,860 before travel. A UK recruiter takes 15-25% of first-year salary.

What HUGO is

One loop. Signal to signed.

For CEOs, founders and BD leads of space companies with 10 to 200 people. Concierge first: the team reviews every brief before it goes out.

What makes us different

Data.

  1. Anyone can rent the model. The data is ours to build.
  2. Collecting today. Adding next.
  3. If a source goes quiet, we know within hours.

Why we win

Anyone can rent the model. The data is ours to build.

HUGO, Signals and Orbiteer are only as good as what they know. Every competitor pays the same price for the same models. A clean, sourced record of who did what in the European space industry takes years to collect, so we start collecting now, in the background, every day.

Breadth

Every tender portal, grant database, news feed and job board worth reading, pulled on a schedule. Then history: ten years of the same sources, read the same way.

Proof

Every fact keeps its sources, the sentence it came from, a date and a confidence. An answer from Signals can be defended in a board meeting.

People

Orbiteer adds who knows whom and who is open to what, shared with consent. Market tools see companies; we also see the people.

PriorityData gathering runs before features. If a source stops, fixing it comes first.

Command center

If a source goes quiet, we know within hours.

Every run recorded

Per source: when it ran, what it fetched, what was new, duplicates and errors. The command center shows it on one screen.

Alerts in Telegram

A source with nothing new for too long, or three failed runs in a row, posts to our group. Freddy turns it into a task with an owner.

Proof you can count

Each relationship shows how many sources back it. One source is a claim; two independent ones, or an official award notice, make it a fact.

Free and general AI substitutes

The real rival is free. And a founder with an agent.

esa-match

ESA's own free directory since March 2021: company profiles, a Marketspace for offers and needs, ESA and non-ESA tenders for finding consortium partners, an events calendar.

TED and tender digests

TED is free to search and sends free email alerts. BidsFactory sends a free weekly digest of new ESA tenders.

Lindy

General AI agents. Free trial credits, Team from $29.99/mo. A technical founder can wire up a weekly tender brief alone.

Boardy

AI "superconnector": you join by phone call, it makes intros to investors, customers and hires. $8M seed led by Creandum (Jan 2025). Founders and investors, not space.

Happenstance

AI search over your own network. Free; Pro $24/mo billed yearly. Claims 500,000+ users.

ChatGPT

Pulse launched Sept 2025 with proactive morning briefs for Pro users. One Oct 2026 report says it moved into scheduled tasks. Generic, not sourced tender work.

Honest scorecard

Where we win. Where we are weak.

  • Europe-first tendersESA STAR, TED and Find a Tender in one feed. Stotles and Tussell are UK and Ireland, GovSpend and SpaceNexus lean US.

  • A next step, draftedResearch firms sell reading. HUGO's brief ends with an action for approval. Stotles drafts bid/no-bid reports, for UK and Irish buyers only.

  • Price per companyEUR 299-999/mo. Payload Pro is $999/yr per seat; Dealroom starts at EUR 750/mo for 3 seats; ZoomInfo and PitchBook are quote only. Our Team tier needs proof it is worth more than a Dealroom plan.

Market intelligence for space corporates. A command centre that briefs the boardroom.

HUGO

The personality on top. Same agent, same memory, whether you meet him in Orbiteer, in Signals or in a chat.

Orbiteer

Where space people go instead of scrolling.

Feed

Signals events turned into posts, plus members' own updates. Good content every day, not recruiter spam.

Talk

Comments on every event. Space people love to discuss who raised and who lost a deal. That talk is the hook.

Meet

IRL events and meetups, organised by members and by HUGO.

Grow

Career progression, mentoring, private intent. Later: hiring and team tools for startups.

Signals

Jarvis for space corporates.

A dark, calm command centre that knows the market and tells a BD team what moved overnight. This is the product companies pay for.

Command centre

Map, lenses and briefings in one screen. Built in PR #33, not merged yet.

Dossiers and tenders

Every company, its deals, people moves and open tenders, with sources.

Community pulse

What Orbiteer members say about an event, as counts and quotes members allow. Only Orbiteer collects it.

HUGO inside

Ask about any company and get an answer with sources, the way you'd ask a chief of staff.

Alerts and API

Push to Slack, email or the client's own systems. Enterprise contracts later.

Who buys

BD, strategy and investor-relations teams at primes, scale-ups and investors.

Events · Orbiteer for organisers, Signals for management

Sell the ticket in Orbiteer. Read the room in Signals.

Organiser

Create and sell

Any member or company sets up an event in Orbiteer and sells tickets. Payment by card in EUR or USD.

Attendee

Ticket in the app

QR ticket in Orbiteer, plus who else is going and HUGO's "meet these three" list.

Staff

Scan at the door

The organiser's employees scan tickets with their own Orbiteer app. Staff role, no extra hardware.

Management

Live insight

Signals shows check-ins, which companies came, who met whom, with a Jarvis agent that draws charts on request.

Why it fits

Space business happens at events. Tickets bring revenue, daily app opens and the best data on who meets whom.

Don't build from zero

there.fm already runs booking and check-in. Reuse it under Orbiteer, with a card-payment provider behind it.

Order

Free RSVPs for our own meetups first, then paid tickets for small organisers, then large event companies with staff scanning and dashboards.

HUGO and its memorySecurity level: enterprise vs consumer

Why not merge now

Two working codebases on different stacks (raw SQL vs Supabase, Firebase auth, Neo4j). Merging costs weeks before Bremen and mixes enterprise data with a social app.

Move the comments

Comments are social content, so they belong in Orbiteer, with its users and moderation. Signals reads the pulse through one API call. The signals.space side isn't pushed yet, so this is cheap to change today.

Revisit when

There is a team of more than two engineers, or the same feature gets built twice.

Mobile

Ship the Orbiteer app. Open the store accounts today.

Expo, one codebase

iOS and Android from React Native on the existing Orbiteer API. Feed, comments, events, profile, and a HUGO chat tab.

Accounts in the company's name

Apple Developer for organisations is $99 a year and needs a D-U-N-S number, which can take weeks. Google Play is $25 once. Enrol Cosmic Futures, not a personal account: moving apps later is slow.

Why the app, not Signals

The daily habit lives on the phone. Signals users work at a desk; the app is where people come back every day.

This weekRequest the D-U-N-S number and enrol Cosmic Futures with Apple and Google.

What is worth doing

Money first, habit second.

Now · to Bremen, 19 Nov

HUGO briefs

Launch A for company leaders. Signals collects in the background every day. Fix the PII and shared-secret issues. Move comments into Orbiteer. Store accounts.

Next · December

Then · Q1 2027

HUGO everywhere

HUGO inside both apps, community pulse in Signals, paid event tickets and door scanning in Orbiteer, startup hiring tools.

Not now

Wait

Merging codebases. A full HR suite. Anything without a buyer or a daily user.

Risk: focus

Two founders, three products and an agent. Only HUGO briefs and Signals pilots make money this quarter; Orbiteer grows the audience.

Risk: comments about named companies

"X lost a deal" can be wrong or defamatory. Reporting, moderation and clear terms before comments show inside Signals.

How it stays current

A contacts table in Freddy's database, next to our tasks and decisions. Anyone who messages HUGO is added. Each morning Freddy posts who needs a follow-up today, and any Claude Code session can read or update a contact. Every message we send is one to one, written or approved by one of us.

Why we can ship in weeks

We start from working code.

Sees

Signals

News, ESA tenders, space job boards, company extraction.

Knows

Orbiteer

The professional network, connections and a matching digest.

Hires

The team

People at Cosmic Futures who run hiring searches for customers.

Acts

HUGO

A new, thin service over the other two, plus free EU and UK tender APIs and the there.fm agent, voice, WhatsApp and payments stack.

How it all connects

Architecture.

  1. HUGO is the only brain. The others are data.
  2. What we propose.
  3. Four things to fix before HUGO connects.
  4. One contracts repo. One token per caller.
  5. HUGO only reads from signals.space.
  6. Pull by cursor. Overlap 15 minutes. Upsert.
  7. Orbiteer gets one route in v1.
  8. Code drives the brief. Models fill steps.
  9. The model proposes. A person approves. Code sends once.
  10. One agent with twelve tools and three models.
  11. Seven threats, each with a fix.
  12. Every edit Hugo makes becomes a test.
  13. What each review changed.
  14. Bremen gets a reviewed brief in week 2.
  15. Repos to use. Skills to install.

Shared by all three: the contracts repo of zod schemas, pinned by git tag

Six decisions

What we propose.

One agent

signals.space owns data, Orbiteer owns people, HUGO owns every customer conversation.

Read-only APIs

Each product exposes /integration/v1. GET only, one token per caller.

Shared contracts

One repo of zod schemas. Open enums, tolerant parsing, contract tests.

Pull, don't push

A cursor with a 15-minute overlap. If HUGO is down, nothing is lost.

The brief is a pipeline

Code drives it, models fill steps, a checker blocks unsupported claims.

Approval lives in code

The model only proposes. A person approves. Plain code sends, once.

What the code says today · checked 3 Nov 2026

Four things to fix before HUGO connects.

Found in the reposRiskFix, week 0
Open signals routesHigh, GDPR. Read routes have no auth; entity rows include scraped contact email and phone.Strip contact fields and cap lists now; lock reads once every caller has a token.
Shared secretHigh. One INTEGRATION_SECRET also unlocks merge, delete and scrape runs. Orbiteer holds it.Rotate; new read-only guard; one token per caller.
Dead callsBroken today. Orbiteer calls comment routes signals.space doesn't have.Remove the calls or build the routes.
Voice toolsHigh. One shared secret, and the model sets "confirmed" itself.Per-call signed token; voice can only propose.

How they connect

One contracts repo. One token per caller.

shared · git tag

contracts

zod schemas: common, signals/v1, orbiteer/v1, hugo/v1

provider

signals.space

Contract test: seeded DB, every response parsed by the schema.

provider + consumer

Orbiteer

Serves members/search, reads the signals feed.

consumer

HUGO

Parses recorded fixtures. CI fails on drift.

Shared rules

Named ID spaces (signals.entity.id, orbiteer.expert.id). Unknown category skips the item, never the page. Dates ISO UTC, money as amount + currency. Page max 100. Mappers only: no internal fields, no contact PII.

Auth between products

IntegrationReadGuard: GET only, hashed and revocable token, throttled per token. HUGO_SIGNALS_TOKEN, ORBITEER_SIGNALS_TOKEN, HUGO_ORBITEER_TOKEN. Writes come later with their own guard and scope.

HUGO → signals.space

HUGO only reads from signals.space.

HUGO never uses signals.space watchlists, /intel or any write route. It keeps its own watch sets per account.

The change feed

Pull by cursor. Overlap 15 minutes. Upsert.

signals.space

updated_at bumps

On classification, entity link change, or a tender content-hash change.

HUGO feed pull

Cursor − 15 min

Page until hasMore is false. Store the highest (time, id).

HUGO database

Opportunities

Unique per account, kind and ref. Flags material changes.

Why not webhooks

If HUGO is down, a push is lost. A cursor just resumes.

Why not an outbox

signals.space writes from many places. A trigger on updated_at catches all of them.

Merges and new accounts

Redirects rewrite watch sets. A new account gets 90 days of backfill at once.

HUGO → Orbiteer and the outside world

Orbiteer gets one route in v1.

GET members/searchopted-in members only, capped per day

Intros are manual in v1

HUGO prepares the brief; Hugo makes the intro through Orbiteer's request flow.

Later

POST /intros with double opt-in, a write token and 2 per member per month.

Recall

Rules + full-text + vector search per interest, so a subcontract story is found without a keyword match.

No false claims

Dates, amounts and "closes in N days" come from source fields, never from the model.

Sunday 07:00

Runs on the Batch API; goes out Monday after review.

Actions

The model proposes. A person approves. Code sends once.

proposed→approved→executing→sentorunknown → a person checks

Approval is a POST from a signed-in session. The token is bound to the action, the person and the payload hash.

Levels

A0 read · A1 do and tell · A2 approve first · A3 a person does it. Nothing reaches a third party below A2.

Tamper-proof

The hash covers every field: to, cc, body, links. Frozen after approval.

Exactly once

A lease while executing. A crash mid-send goes to unknown, never an automatic retry.

Voice

A spoken yes only proposes. The confirm link, sent to the channel on file, approves.

Inside the agent

One agent with twelve tools and three models.

Tools, named by product

  • signals_search · signals_get
  • signals_entity · signals_feed
  • orbiteer_members_search
  • memory_read · memory_write
  • contacts_lookup · calendar_freebusy
  • brief_get · thread_history
  • propose_actionstrict union

Models

  • Opus 5.5agent, selection, writing; effort set per route
  • Haiku 5.5batch extraction, the verify judge
  • Jevtyped decisions: urgent triage, routing, claim rules. Async, Haiku fallback, never approves.

Rules

  • Cache breakpoints: system + tools, profile + memory, thread. History is append-only.
  • Scraped text and incoming mail pass a tool-less extraction step first.
  • Recipients come only from the contacts table.
  • No forced tool_choice on Opus 5.5 (it returns 400).

Security review

Seven threats, each with a fix.

ThreatFix in the design
Prompt injectionIn scraped pages or mail. Tool-less extraction first; recipients only from contacts; A2 for anything outbound.
Voice "yes"Voice only proposes; approval is a POST from a signed-in session.
Mail scannersOpening the link shows a review page; only a POST approves. 30 minutes, CSRF.
One master secretRotate; read-only guard; one hashed token per caller.
Cross-account readsPostgres row-level security per account.
OAuth token leakEnvelope encryption; least-scope Gmail and Calendar.
Personal dataNo contact PII across repos; retention rules; DPIA and DPAs before v1.1.

Evals and tracing

Every edit Hugo makes becomes a test.

Reason codes from day one

Each delete or edit in review carries a code: wrong fit, stale, wrong fact, tone, missed item. That is the labelled set.

Offline suites

Selection recall, fact accuracy, injection cases, action safety. Run on the Batch API before any prompt or model change.

Online metrics

Items kept unedited, review minutes per brief, verify-gate blocks, actions approved vs rejected.

Traces and memory

Langfuse with OpenTelemetry GenAI conventions. Accepted edits update the account profile.

North star: review minutes per briefIf it doesn't fall in month one, the pipeline isn't learning.

Four reviews, against the code

What each review changed.

Systems architect

Found the 10-second feed delay still skipped rows. Now: 15-minute overlap, keyset paging, upsert. Corrected six wrong assumptions about the repos.

Security

Public PII routes, the shared admin secret, model-set voice confirmation, approve links that a GET could trigger. All fixed in the plan.

Senior AI architect

The brief became a verified pipeline. Cut MCP, Managed Agents, voice on the registry and early Telegram from the MVP.

Consistency pass

Twelve contradictions between sections fixed: lock-read order, triggers, Telegram timing, review UI auth, cost figure.

Build order

Bremen gets a reviewed brief in week 2.

Jokes are loose, tasks are not: every task has an owner, a status and a date.

Never public

Freddy never talks to customers, members or anyone outside the two of us.

  • Says: "Brother, the universe already merged that PR. You haven't. Three tasks are overdue."
  • Also says: "Beautiful standup, kings. I heard four decisions and zero owners. Let's fix that energy."

Ideas that were only floated don't become decisions, and nothing is saved until one of us confirms.

Standups

Talk for ten minutes. Freddy writes the tasks.

01

Capture

Send a voice note, paste a transcript, or forward the Meet notes.

02

Transcribe

Voice goes through Whisper. Text goes straight in.

03

Extract

Claude pulls out decisions, tasks with owner and date, and blockers.

04

Confirm

Freddy posts the list with buttons. Either of us fixes or approves.

05

Save

Tasks and decisions go to Neon, linked to the original transcript.

Commands

/tasks, /mine, /done 12, /standup, /breathe, /focus 90. Or just say "Freddy" in plain text.

Google Meet

Start with paste and voice. Later: Meet's own transcript in Drive, or a meeting bot that joins the call.

Nothing invented

Freddy only creates tasks someone said out loud, and asks when the owner or date is missing.

Freddy and Claude Code

Every Claude session knows our task list.

How sessions use it

One line in each repo's CLAUDE.md: at the start, read my Freddy tasks; when done, update the task and post one line to the group.

Access

One token per person, hashed in Neon, revocable. Sessions act as that person, so the group sees who did what.

Same tasks everywhere

A task made in Telegram shows up in Claude Code, and the other way round.

Freddy · build

Built in a day. Live since 3 Nov.
